Some Updates

Love my office. Love the fact that it faces the runway. And love the fact that wind direction has changed so that most flights will take off in the direction facing me. Now i can see the planes clearer...

Work nothing much, except we have formed a small group of CS khakis... They call it the Brotherhood of Counter Strike. Sigh, din expect ppl still so siao on CS. Even though i cannot make it one, I joined them nevertheless... Sports on thursday at east coast still as usual, although the attendance rate is getting very bad. Probably due to the rainy season, people don;t feel like exercise...

Have joined a soccer team recently. They played every sunday at Taman Jurong. Got 2 full field there. Very nice, i mean i finally got to feel how is it like to play in a full field with a referee, no linesman though... The team is mostly uncles in their 30s n 40s. And with beer belly. And they smoke a lot. But they can all play pretty well and a few of them, their stamina is amazing... I am very guilty to say the least.

Have played with them for about a month now. A bit exasperating at times cos I am forced to sit out, especially when that day i am on fire. But bo bian, sometimes a lot of pple come, so have to be considerate, cum my field soccer skills are quite sucky... With studs boots (different from flat boots for street soccer) i can't do those dribbling skills that i'm good at. Each team have to pay $100 for the field and the referee and the facilities. Quite reasonable i would say, but now dunno what to do about my sec sch friends. My 10+ yrs street soccer gang play at the exact day and exact time. Should I alternate between street soccer and field soccer and later turn out that I'll flunk at both? :s

中国人的厉害!

Was shell-shocked today at the clean and green week today at the Republic Polytechnic.

Was there trying to set-up our place since 7am. when finally it was done at around 9 and we starting distributing the free gifts (our is the main crowd puller, cos we gave out waterbottles and towels). That's when my nightmare began. Everything happened so quickly. The instruction was simple, you have to go to another table to get the survey forms and filled it up, so that you won't just come to the booth to get the gifts.

But everyone don't care. They will just crowd around the booth with the forms, some din even filled it up, some din even have the form or demand that we have to help them fill. These are all those RCs folks, those catered by buses after their brisk walks activities etc... But this scenario only lasted for a few minutes.

Everyone just pushed further and further in and threatened to grew completely out of control.. My colleague and I were practically pushed all the way back to the walls. I was just wondering they might as well help themselves to the our stuff, not much difference from how they are behaving now... Anyway the other organisers kept sending signals to me that PM is walking by soon, and I'm under tremendous pressure to clear that impossible crowd in front of my tiny booth immediately. Almost wanted to give up sigh...

Anyway Io shouted that no more forms are distributed, because the distribution for this timeslot is overshot and those with forms have to queue up. Oh yah, did I mention quite large number of those crowds are Chinese PRCs? more than half i think. Those singaporeans in the queue get the hint and try to cooperate but chinese nationals simply spoil the market. Those without forms will try their best to squeeze to the front to scold me. Those with forms will try their best to cut queue. Not that there are no disgraceful singaporeans out that, who din attempt to do the same thing. It is just the quantity of PRCs thats doing that is significantly more.

I think i have typed too much, although this is just the beginning... to sum up, I feel that Chinese Nationals, based on today experience, have shown me what is true kiasuism.

1. Stupidity - obviously when they noe things aren't gg to work out if they keep pushing yr way, they shld follow my instruction. Else they are only wasting their time cos the longer they refuse to cooperate, the longer they will wait for their gifts. singaporeans are much smarter, judging from the way they try to cooperate.

2. Unreasonable - Need i say further? All the scoldings i got, all the pushing, and all the demands.

3. Extremely gian beng - all those prcs that kept begging us for more (when the situation was under control at the later stages) when their goodie bags were already so full. it is just unbelievable lor.

You have to experience them to know what I truely mean. 中国人的厉害!
