Excerpts

No time for meditation
Most people excuse themselves from daily sitting meditation by stating that they are too busy or have no time for it. At one time I was also using the same excuse until i met a Burmese monk. He told me he needed some donation from me. The donation he asked was 5 minutes of my daily time. He wanted me to use this time that i had donated to him for my daily meditation. That's how i started my daily practice and extended 5 minutes to at least 30 minutes for each sitting session.

In detail, this was what the monk said:" You may wonder how to fork out five minutes of your busy schedule for sitting meditation. It is very simple. Just give up five minutes of your sleeping time! Set the timer and wake up five minutes earlier. It will be very quiet in the morning and you will be able to achieve very good concentration. Waking up five minutes earlier won't affect you seriously. You may not even notice the difference even when you take away 30 minutes of your sleeping time for meditation. Try it out to believe it." - Tin Maung Win
